Professional Services are a collection of offerings to help you achieve specific outcomes related to enterprise cloud adoption. Each offering delivers a set of activities, best practices, and documentation reflecting our experience supporting customers in their journey to the AWS Cloud. Professional Service offerings use a unique methodology based on best practices to help you complete projects faster and more reliably, while accounting for evolving expectations and dynamic team structures along the way.

Region Independent Service Pricing

Region independent cloud services are either not specific to any region or apply globally to all regions.

Please note that some region-independent services also require additional region-specific cloud services. Any additional region-specific pricing can be found in subsequent sections of this document. When pricing involves multiple regions, GovCloud takes precedence over the United States regions, United States regions takes precedence over all other regions. For example, pricing for data transfers involving the United States and GovCloud regions are located under GovCloud. Similarly, pricing for data transfers involving Asia or Europe and the United States regions are always located under the United States.

GovCloud Region Pricing

AWS GovCloud (US) is an isolated AWS region designed to host sensitive data and regulated workloads in the cloud, helping customers support their U.S. government compliance requirements, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP). AWS GovCloud (US) is operated by employees who are vetted "U.S. Persons" and root account holders of AWS accounts must confirm they are U.S. Persons before being granted access credentials to the region. AWS GovCloud (US) is available to U.S. government agencies and organizations in government-regulated industries, that meet GovCloud (US) requirements for access. AWS GovCloud (US) Region EC2 Availability Zones: 2. (June, 2017) Retrieved from: https://aws.amazon.com/govcloud-us.

Please note that the AWS GovCloud (US) Region is not necessary to operate under the AWS FedRAMP Agency ATO. The AWS US East/West regions have a separate FedRAMP ATO that may be sufficient to satisfy your requirements. Not all AWS services are available in the GovCloud. The GovCloud is currently available in only the Northwestern region of the United States, which may result in unacceptable network latency from the U.S. East coast. In many cases, appropriate security policies may mitigate the requirement that appears to necessitate GovCloud. For example, encryption of data at rest and in transit may meet any requirement to limit data access to only U.S. Persons.

AWS GovCloud (US) root user must sign the AWS GovCloud (US) Region Addendum and must be a U.S. Person.

United States Region Pricing

The AWS Cloud infrastructure is built around Regions and Availability Zones (AZs). A Region is a physical location in the world where we have multiple Availability Zones. Availability Zones consist of one or more discrete data centers, each with redundant power, networking and connectivity, housed in separate facilities. These Availability Zones offer you the ability to operate production applications and databases which are more highly available, fault tolerant and scalable than would be possible from a single data center. The AWS Cloud operates 38 Availability Zones within 14 geographic Regions around the world.
